An assassination attempt is made on a Presidential candidate who has returned to his rural home town. The Law sets Out to discover who shot him. The hospital waiting room set up by the police as a command post is invaded by a gun-toting young couple who appear to be intent on finishing the assassination. The mystery is solved in the end and the guilty party gets his punishment - and we all know a little more about the motives of assassins and the American heritage that encourages them.
