Graduated Stanford University with honors in Philosophy. Playwright-in-Residence, Institute of Advanced Studies. He has three collections of poetry, To Peel an Apple, Peaceable Kingdom, and First Selected Poems. He has translated and adapted from the French, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Burmese, Korean and Babylonian. Founder and editor of the New York Quarterly. Professor at the Washington Square Writing Center; teaches at Hofstra University, Wagner, the New School and Cooper Union. His novel, Saturday Night at San Marcos, will be published soon. He also teaches playwriting at the H.B. Studio. Recipient: Robert Frost Award to Breadloaf; Outer Circle Critics Award.
