Eight scenes all based around the theme of betrayal. Simple to stage, with short punchy scenes, and a doubling-up of the cast so that nearly everyone gets a chance to play at least two characters. Alternatively you could just cast a wider net and include more actors.

Synopsis:

Betrayal-that most intimate of human pains. Betrayal-that most unexpected of injuries.. Betrayal-that personal pain usually suffered at the hands of those closest to us. Why does it happen? And how do we handle it? How do we cope with the cannibals of the heart who have eaten away our trust, and our love, and our respect? Why do we emotionally eat our own kind, and how do we overcome it? That's what this show is about as it moves from asylum, to rehearsal room to warehouse. The range of betrayals is large, the colours of the enemy many and varied, and the solutions just as diverse. Strap yourselves in for a journey into the darker corners of the human heart.

Notes:

A hit at the Anglesea and Ballarat one-act play festivals in 2006, Dig looks at the life we haven't lived as much as the one we have - and reveals that the decisions we thought we'd made for the best are often driven by much more banal - and very human - motives. Described by Ballarat adjudicator, Chris Dickins, as "extremely well written" and "deeply moving and completely satisfying," Dig provides a wonderful showcase for two talented actors. It's possible the character of Dig could be performed by a woman, and this would only add to the frisson between the characters. It's no surprise that Dig won the major acting awards at Anglesea and Ballarat. It proves yet again how much can be done with so little.

Synopsis:

We all have our personal demons, but actor Douglas King has only one: it's called Dig, and it visits him on the eve of his last ever performance as King Lear. Why has Dig come? To simply torment him - again - or is there some other reason?

Notes:

This one-act play has been performed across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and was part of the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Like the title says, all you need are two women and a chair, and let the fun and hard work begin!

Synopsis:

Two actors, Jessie and Martine, arrive at an audition to discover only a bare room with a mysterious black chair. The only instructions on what they should do are contained on the flyer advertising the play, and it soon becomes clear that this is no ordinary audition; or is it an audition at all? Will they obey the cryptic instructions? What of Damian, the director? Is this all a plot to get back at Martine, or is there something more? The answers, as always, lie in the choices Jessie and Martine are about to make.

Notes:

A hit on the one-act play circuit in Victoria, Australia, in 2010, Waiting for Doggett is simple to stage and offers female actors the chance to really showcase their talents. The piece works with older or younger actors. A large knife could be substituted for the gun if need be.

Synopsis:

Sheila is the alcoholic, love-sick owner-manager of the run-down Jasper's Reach Motel and Caravan Park, "somewhere north of the Nullabor." Daphne is a hired killer waiting for the arrival of her mark, a trucker by the name of John Doggett. The stage is soon set for a love-kill triangle between two women and the man that one wants to kill and the other is in love with-or is it&?
