Wanda McKiver is an Author, Playwright, Director and Stage Producer. A woman with a mission to encourage through entertainment and to inspire through teaching oneself how to be motivated, Ms. McKiver makes careful note, not to be the "it" that does it for people. She has taken the literary industry by storm with a novel entitled The Black Rose Diaries, in 2005, a book derived from a dream, challenging the myth, that "African American women do not commit suicide". Once readers got their hands on this page turner, some realized they unfortunately had too much in common with whom Ms. McKiver's describes as "mirror images of herself" they soon found out that these mirrored images weren't fictional characters at all, however women either Ms. McKiver knew personally, or are silenced voices stuck in a loud world. It didn't' take this creative and often labeled, "dark writer" long to publish a second novel that would again remind reading enthusiast that reality is not always a fairy tale entitled "Beautiful" a tale of two sisters struggling through early adolescences in a neglectful household, full of hands that love to touch places that are forbidden by strangers and family members alike. In 2007while completing her second novel, Wanda McKiver took time to produce her first community stage drama entitled, "The Grandmas", a timeless musical which tells the story of five generations of women living under the same roof. She again, challenged her audience to believe in dreams, allowing her cast to describe true hope, deep family ties, and unfortunate stereotypes. Before releasing her third literary piece, The Meltdown, in 2008, a powerful prose project that reminds you that emotions are real and thrive in each of us, especially when you are falling in and out of love. She produced it on stage, this time in a New York City theatre, selling out four of five performances. Wanda McKiver is now producing and touring eight stage productions beginning March of 2011.

Synopsis: | Meet ten middle aged co-workers as they enjoy what they think will be just another night out. Each one making an attempt to escape the woes they left in their lives, past and present. The story begins when Dale, breaks up with her boyfriend who she thought would see forever with her. As she begin to release her thoughts, anguish, and frustration, with each of her friends being reminded that they too have items in their minds they would have rather left home, items that reappear at Marlo's causing a total meltdown among the group. The Meltdown is a story of many tales; it touches on social issues that have plagued us all at least once in our lives. This tells a story of sisterhood between an unlikely collection of friends, it is a story of love for humanity, most of all it is a story of self love. The Meltdown is what happens when a shocking force of emotions sweeps in and forces one to look at their own baggage of lies and conformity. | |||||
