Edward Martyn (30 January 1859 5 December 1923) was an Irish political and cultural activist and playwright. was, with W.B.Yeats and Lady Gregory, a founder of the Irish Literary Theatre, the second production of which, opening on 9 May 1899, the day after Yeats's The Countess Cathleen, was his The Heather Field.
