| Synopsis: | Set in the present when a war in the Middle East has escalated and conscription has been introduced to Australia. Olly, a young, sanguine type conscripted to the army, has no intention to die for something he doesn't understand. Olly meets up with Gemma, a violent activist who has been ejected from her collective for trying to spill blood for peace. When Olly's best friend, Chick, dies from an enemy bomb, Olly is torn between whether to fight for his best friends honour, something his other mates are doing, or to continue his journey towards freedom. One Thumb Out is an energetic drama that explores young Australian's sense of duty and asks where and to whom our loyalty lies - to our family, to our friends, to our country or to ourselves? | |||||
