Katherine Luck is an award-winning playwright, short story author, and journalist. At seventeen, Katherine Luck's first play, Emanuelle, was produced by Portland Repertory Theatre and was awarded a Portland Drama Critics Circle Drammy Award. Her second play, The Import, was produced by Portland Repertory Theatre, and her third, Three Black People, was staged by the Multicultural Theatre Consortium of Portland. Her full-length comedy, Commedia dell'Mafia, was awarded New Play Competition Runner-up by Minnesota State University Theatre. After earning a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon, Katherine Luck published her first novel, In Retrospect (26th Day Press, 2007). Her most recent full-length play, Amaria/The Bubble, was a semi-finalist in the University of Oregon First Flights Competition; a finalist in the Playwrights First Competition sponsored by the National Arts Club; was published in the Oregon Literary Review; and received a staged reading through Seattle Playwrights Collective in 2008. Her one act play, Sleep With Jesus, was read at Do North Theatre in Shoreline, Wash., and by Seattle Cold Readers, in 2009.Her work has appeared in The Amistad, Seattle Woman Magazine, Farmhouse Magazine and Northwest Baby & Child. She is the calendar editor and staff writer at the Journal Newspapers, which serves communities in the Seattle metro area and beyond. She recently received two Society of Professional Journalists 2008 Excellence in Journalism Awards.
