David Lewis was trained as a research bio-chemist, working all his professional life for a large Pharmaceutical company based in Nottingham. Much of his social time, however, was given to amateur theatre, either directing or performing or working back-stage, both in drama and operetta. After retirement, David emigrated to Paphos in Cyprus, where he was highly involved with the theatre group there. Now back in England, he has enjoyed writing as well as performing, initially a novel, "The Real Jesus?" (published by Athena), but later plays.

Synopsis: | In this fantasy, three of Shakespeare's most famous female characters are called before a celestial tribunal to be examined. Each, in turn, is found to have grave human frailties, which none of them can justify. However, finally, to their surprise and relief, all three are commended because, although they are morally culpable, they have fulfilled the essential purpose of the playwright and demonstrated to their audiences the dangerous potential of human nature. The play has 7 characters. 3 must be played by females, the others may be played by either male or female actors. There is one simple set.

Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | This passion play traces the events of the last week of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, as seen through the eyes of some of his enemies and lesser known friends. Unfortunately, the stately language of the 17th century scholars appointed by King James I to translate the Bible into English, when read today, tends to obscure the human realities of the story. This play attempts to give the essence of the truth in modern idiom. There are several scenes. The setting can be simple curtains.
