He has also written opera libretto (Boswell's Journal) and Wild Rose, fiction, verse, and criticism for the Village Voice, Harper's Bookletter, Cricket, and Bottighe Oscure. Recipient: CAPS grant; Lincoln Center Institute, Senior Fellow; Charlotte Chorpenning Award, 1979.
