Synopsis:

Broke, by French writer David Lescot, seen here in an English language version by lain F MacLeod, is a less-is-more tale of a bankrupt man, his wife and his asset-stripping guardian angel liquidator. With the enforced loss of all material possessions - including the rare jazz record collection - a man has a slow-burning Zen epiphany, gradually learning that small is beautiful and less is more profitable for the soul.

Notes:

Original Playwright - David Lescot

Synopsis:

Le Manage' is rooted in documentary truth. The French have apparently taken to sheltering immigrants in their homes to defend them against President Sarkozy's deportation drive. In Lescot's oblique two-hander, a well-heeled woman has wed an Arab immigrant to secure his citizenship. At the end of their first year of marriage, its authenticity will be investigated by the state. So the couple arrange to meet one day per month throughout that year, to learn about one another in 12 bite-sized modules: Eating, Bodies, Memories, etc.
- Brian Logan, Time Out London
