Synopsis: | Siren is a kinetic sound sculpture featuring 29 large metal tripods with rotating arms. Tone generators produce an extraordinary choir of electronic drones, and small LED5 create spinning circles of light. Two performers' operate the tripods, setting them one by one into motion. The event gradually builds into a dramatic spectacle of mechanical movement, electronic sound and light. The audience can move freely, experiencing different sonic and visual perspectives of the work. Available as a short performance or as a longer installation, Siren has been presented to acclaim both as a stand-alone performance piece and within cross-art and multimedia festivals. It has previously shown in unconventional spaces, including an aircraft hanger, a disused swimming pool and an underground labyrinth of tunnels. | |||||
