Bronx-born lyricist Diane Charlotte Lampert has run a full musical cycle: from country, pop, soul and rock to folk opera and jazz; from theatre and TV to nightclubs and over 20 motion pictures. She received an Academy Award nomination for best song, with composer Peter Schickele, for the Universal Pictures science fiction film Silent Running (now a cult film), and is the only lyricist the late jazz great Cannonball Adderley ever worked with. Ms. Lampert has written more than fifty hit songs, several top ten and number one in every form of popular music. Recipient: First Prize, Italian Song Festival; two gold records, Australia; "Break It to Me Gently," No. 1 hit with Brenda Lee; "Your Name Is Beautiful," No. 1 country hit with Carl Smith; "Ain't Nothin'," Top Ten with Billy "Crash" Craddock; "The Olive Tree," Top Ten in London with The Seekers.
