Hello. I can add little to your actual, factual knowledge of George, but when I was at college in London in 1977/79, I met George in the way we did in those days. . .at various drinking places, notably The Phoenix in Smith St, Chelsea, and at a club off Lower Sloane St called The Village Club. I don't know how old he was then .. to my youthful eyes, ancient! .. but kindly, warmhearted, good sense of humour, short, fairly rotund, grey hear.. he was avuncular to me, dispensing wisdom, and once, a copy of his play, The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler.. which I still havemore than 30 years later. He advised me to quit the group I was hanging out with and marrr, settle down .. I was barely 19 at that time, the last thing on my mind. He also collected paintings, and probably the last time I saw him was in the late 80's at one of the auction houses, where I with my first husband used to buy and sell watercolours; I think he had bigger fish to fry. . . once, en route to somewhere or other, I went to his flat in .. possibly Lower Sloane St, SWl, a ground floor den, dark, dusty, absolutely stuffed with pictures.. I think I have the right place. I don't suppose this is any real use, but for some reason, I was thinking about George today. . .he had angina then, so I don't feel he could be around any longer. Best wishes, Bronte Woodruff, known at the time as, dare I say it, Bobo. . .artist. Bronte Woodruff
