Nationality:   USA    Email:   Click here to contact    Website:   n/a

Literary Agent:  Bret Adams Ltd  represented by Bruce Ostler & Mark Orsini

Recently a Huntington Theatre Playwriting Fellow, Kirsten Greenidges recent work includes Milk Like Sugar (La Jolla Playhouse/Playwrights Horizons/Women's Project), The Luck of the Irish (Huntington Theatre Company 2012), and Bossa Nova (Yale Repertory Theatre). Kirstens work combines elements of magical realism with a pronounced use of language: the result is a body of plays that possesses a heightened sense of realism while exploring how race, class, and culture intersect in these United States of America. She was an NEA/TCG playwright-in-residence at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and is also playwright-in-residence at Company One, which has produced numerous plays by Kirsten, including Thanksgiving, 103 Within the Veil, A More Perfect Union, and The Gibson Girl, and frequent ten-minute plays in Bostons Ten-Minute Play Marathon. Kirsten has enjoyed experiences at Sundance (Utah and Ucross), Magic Theatre, National New Play Network, Cardinal Stage, South Coast Repertory, Pacific Playwrights Festival, Madison Rep, Page 73 Productions, Hourglass Group, Bay Area Playwrights, Playwrights Horizons, New Dramatists, Mark Taper Forum, A.S.K., The ONeill, The Guthrie, Mixed Blood, McCarter Shorts, Humana Festival, Moxie, and New Georges. In 2008, Kirsten was awarded Sundances Time Warner Award for Bossa Nova. Additional work includes The Curious Walk of the Salamander, and Sans-Culottes in the Promised Land. Kirsten is currently working on commissions from Yale Rep and Denver Center Theatre Company. She attended Wesleyan University and The Playwrights Workshop at the University of Iowa, and is a member of Rhombus and a current resident at New Dramatists.

With brother Archibald terrified to leave their apartment and mother Maya steadfast in her desire to sit in a hole on the beach to be closer to her dead husband, Jill is forced into running the family's clam shack single-handedly. That is, until she hires Lane against her better judgment. Soon Jill's coarse spiritual fabric is stretched to its limit by Lane's eternal and eclectic optimism. At first glance quirky, at times brimming with hilarity, the inner core of this piece is hauntingly tender.

Kirsten Greenidge

Lenas days as Gretas new nanny are numbered: her mishaps with the washing machine have mangled all of her young charges clothes, the housekeeper is hoping to get her fired, the family she works for is suffering identity crises unique to black urban professionals, and, oh yes, a forest has begun to climb its way through the floorboards of the house. This is a play of velocity and image that rumbles to a chilling end.

Synopsis:

Inspired by the lives of Mary Todd Lincoln and Lizzy Keckly, Mrs. Lincolns freed black seamstress while living in the White House, this play written for young audiences is the story of both womens lives and the primary events that brought them together during a critical moment in our nations history. The mania often associated with Mrs. Lincoln has been etched away to reveal a friendship that both women came to hold dear.

Synopsis:

We all have instinctive fears -- but what if a fear becomes inexplicable, illogical, and just plain weird? Then you're dealing with a phobia, one of those most extreme and fascinating of terrors. Actors Theatre of Louisville asked 16 frighteningly creative playwrights to find inspiration in real phobias, and the resulting collection of pieces might prove that not only is fear humankind's oldest emotion, but it's also one of our silliest, most serious, and stage-worthy. Synopsis:

College classmates Diane and Grace cordially sip cocktails in Diane's living room. Although the din of gin and tonic rises steadily throughout their reunion it is unable to drown the racket of Diane's deepest fear, that of her fourteen year old daughter Perry, whom she purposefully leaves at gymnastics practice each evening in the hope that she can forestall Perry's constant need for parenting. Diane's mother, haunted by the unfair treatment she received in her younger days during her trips to the department store, pops in and out spouting what might be deemed nonsense if it didn't ultimately reveal the roots of Diane's anxieties. Relentlessly character driven, this is a piece about confinement, and the demands of femininity in the black elite.
