Synopsis: | The Australian Art Orchestra is a 20-piece jazz ensemble established in 1994 by composer and pianist Paul Grabowsky. Its newest piece, Bloodstream, explores some of the most urgent issues facing contemporary Australia and the rest of the world. Its starting point is the real life stories of Ruby Hunter and Archie Roach, victims of a government plan which removed Aboriginal children from their families from 1900-72 in an attempt to assimilate them into mainstream society. Bloodstream is a multimedia, music theatre work using dramatised film segments and documentary footage with live music, songs and narrative. | |||||
