Rebecca Gould has mainly directed new plays and performances for and with young people. Shes an Associate Director at the Theatre Royal Plymouth where she has just directed 'The Marriage of Anansewa' by Efua Sutherland. Also at the Theatre Royal, she recently produced the 'Theatre of Science' season, comprising of two new plays, 'Seeing Without Light' by Simon Turley and 'Still Life' by Charles Way, plus a large site specific performance piece, 'TenderRealm2' created by Gecko Theatre Company. As a Learning Associate at the RSC and an Education Associate at the National Theatre, she is currently working on a new play by Adrian Mitchell called The Fear Brigade for the NT and on new national young people's project for the RSC . Also for the National Theatre, she recently directed The Little Tempest and The Wonderful Life and Miserable Death of Renowned Magician Doctor Faustus for young audiences in the Cottesloe Theatre. Previously as director of the English Shakespeare Companys Education Company and Associate Director of Made in Wales Theatre Company, Cardiff , she directed new plays by Othneil Smith, Roger Williams, Tracy Spottiswoode, Lesley Ross, Peter Morgan, Mark Ryan and Lewis Davies. She has enjoyed working with a number of international writers, and producing and directing productions and festivals in Hong Kong, India and Ghana. She co-founded Tinderbox Consultants with Jeff Teare in 2002 and has worked closely with the Wellcome Trust to foster a wider awareness of science, in dramatic and dynamic new ways. 'The Wonderful Life and Miserable Death of Renowned Magician Doctor Faustus' was her the first attempt at adaptation a classic text for young audiences and was very much a team effort!
