Notes: | - | |||||
| Set in London and Berlin in the 1930s and 40s, the topic of the piece is as pertinent today as it was then. Where does the immigrant belong? How does he deal with longing and exile? In love with Germany, Wolfgang is forced to leave for England with his wife in 1938 and longs to go home, to the culture and cabaret of Berlin. In 1946, despite the Nazis' murder of his mother, he does just that. The consequences of the hatmaker's return to his Motherland are cataclysmic. | |||||
