Napoleon Ellsworth is a graduate of the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at The Juilliard School. He has been the recipient of the John Golden Award for Playwriting and two Lincoln Center LeComte du Nouy Awards. His short film sunnyslope (2005) was awarded Best NY Short at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, as well as an honorable mention for Best of Fest at the Great Lakes Film Fest. His theater productions include: Tiny Little (Echo Theater Company, 2003), Full of Fire (Echo Theater Company, 2004), and Don't Pet the Zookeeper (Rising Phoenix Rep, 2008). Other plays have been developed at The Juilliard School, Playwrights Horizons, The Syzygy Theater Group, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, The Los Angeles Writer's Center, Theater for the New City, Second Stage, and The Sidewalk Studio Theatre. He is currently a semi-finalist at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 2009 National Playwrights Conference with his most recent play, The Wicked Messenger. He is also at work on an adaptation to the stage of Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark.
