Synopsis: | Based on an old Japanese ghost story, The Boy Who Drew Cats concerns a boy named Neko who spends his time drawing cats while his siblings work on their family's farm. There is a famine in the land, caused by the evil goblin rat, and Neko's parents can no longer support their whole family. To ease their burden, they send the boy off to study with a Buddhist priest, but Neko-continually distracted by his artistic impulses-only causes trouble at the temple. The priest sends Neko back home, and on his journey there, the boy finally discovers what his artistic gift is for: his cat drawings come to life and save not just him, but the entire country from desolation at the hands of the goblin rat. | |||||
