David Caudle's newest play, IN DEVELOPMENT will premiere at New Theatre in Miami in October '09. THE COMMON SWALLOW will premiere in New York at 45 Bleecker Street Theatre in September of '09. LIKENESS recently had its New York premiere at the Manhattan Theatre Source after a world premiere at New Theatre. (Carbonell Award Nominee for Best New Work; O'Neill Semifinalist; full development at the New Harmony Project 2006.) THE SUNKEN LIVING ROOM, published by Samuel French, received two World Premiere co-productions at Southern Rep in New Orleans and the New Theatre in Miami. (Winner, Ambie Award for Best Original Play, New Orleans; Carbonell Nominee for Best New Work, South Florida; Named Best Drama of '06 by the Miami Sun-Post. Winner, Southern New Plays Festival '05; Gold Medal Finalist-Pinter Review Prize for Drama '04, Finalist at the Lark's Playwrights Week '05.) David has developed THE COMMON SWALLOW, DAMSEL and THE SECOND HOUSE in the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers' Group at Primary Stages, where he also teaches Playwriting. An early draft of THE SHORT FALL was a Finalist at the Lark's Playwrights Week. VISITING HOURS was a finalist at Premiere Stages New Play Festival '09. The play also won the Paulini-Howell New Play Competition in '08. It was developed in the Downstage Miami playwriting workshop. This summer, David will be on staff at the Sewanee Writer's Conference, where he has been a Walter E. Dakin Fellow and a Tennessee Williams Scholar. Earlier productions of his work include ONE HOT KITCHEN (under the previous title, Hell's Cuisinart) at the Samuel Beckett Theatre in New York and the Tamarind Theatre in Los Angeles, and SWING LOW! at Florida State University. David's one-act, FEET OF CLAY (Samuel French Winner, Heidemann Award Finalist) is published by Samuel French in its 29th Edition of Festival Plays. The short film version, directed by Carrie Preston, made festival rounds in '07. David has recently completed a feature-length screenplay, LOVE A NURSE, and is working on an original pilot for cable television. www.davidcaudle.org
