Monika Bustamante is a founding member and co-Artistic Director of Austin-based Shrewd Productions, as well as a member of Austin's Hyde Park Theatre Core company, Refraction Arts Project company, and a ten-year member of Austin Script Works (ASW). In addition, she has performed with or written for the Austin Shakespeare Festival, The University of Texas at Austin, Salvage Vanguard Theatre, Rude Mechanicals, The Collective, and others. In 2007, she received an ASW Seed Support grant for the development and production of her play Io: a myth about you, produced to critical acclaim by Shrewd Productions at The Vortex and directed by Elena Araoz. In 2008, she was commissioned by First Light Theater Group to write a play based on Samuel Coleridge's unfinished poem "Christabel." The resulting play, Thirst: a spell for Christabel was produced at HERE Arts in NYC in spring 2009, directed by Elena Araoz. Her writing has received development and/or accolades from the Kennedy Center Playwrights Intensive, the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, the Princess Grace Awards, WordBRIDGE, the Harvest Festival of New American Plays, Austin Critics Table, and more. Monika received her MFA in Playwriting with James A. Michener and Jules Hexter fellowships from the University of Texas at Austin.

Synopsis:
