Synopsis:

Paul Boyd's musical of Hansel and Grettel has been staged in five professional productions since it premiered in 1997 and has consistently been one of his best selling productions. The Lyric Theatre's 1999 version broke box office records and remains the most successful musical production ever staged in the Belfast theatre's long history. This full-length musical tells the story of two badly behaved children, two desperate parents and an ill-advised trip into the woods where the children meet birds, frogs and a witch with a most unusual taste in home decor. The show is performed by a multi-roleplaying cast of five aided and abetted by magic feathers, wonderful wishes and wise words. Featuring the songs "A World Without Children", "The Wish Song" and "Step Inside!" as well as Hansel and Grettel's ballad "Lost and Alone", Fats the Frog's "Singin' the Greens", the bird chorus' "Better From a Bird's Eye View" and the Witch's hysterical show-stopper "Children's Portions" - all rounded off with pbm's most popular and exciting mega-mix finale!

Synopsis:

This spectacular water-based, non-verbal production of the Hans Christian Andersen classic The Little Mermaid was created by writer and composer Paul Boyd and Big Telly Theatre Company's artistic director Zoe Seaton and began life touring to swimming pools in Ireland in 2005. The original tour, produced by Big Telly (Northern Ireland's oldest independent theatre producer), was soon extended at the request of venues and promoters from across the UK and around the world. The show was initially staged for a simple three week engagement in May 2005 but relentless international interest, rave reviews and amazing audience reaction eventually kept the show on the road for just over a year and a half. By the time the production finally closed in November 2006 The Little Mermaid had been performed to over twenty-eight thousand people in one hundred and twenty sell-out performances, had toured across five different countries on two continents and gone through a number of design alterations, rewrites and cast changes.

Synopsis:

Pinocchio has quickly become one of the most successful musicals in Paul Boyd's fifteen year career with six professional productions of the show already staged since the first production in 2003. The premiere production of the show was named 'Best Musical 2003' by Belfast Telegraph's Sunday Life Drama Review of the Year and more recently the 2006 - 2007 Lyric Theatre production became the Belfast venue's most successful musical in eight years. Pinocchio is based on the world-famous story by Carlo Collodi and tells the tale of the little wooden boy who wishes he were real. In one of Paul Boyd's funniest scripts well-known characters are given a special twist and a memorable story is told with charm, wit and surprising sophistication. The show is performed by a multi-roleplaying cast of five and features the songs "G.E.P.P.E.T.T.O", "The Giant Whale" and "Come Straight Home" as well as Pinocchio's ballad "Heart of Wood", The Blue-Haired Fairy's comical "Fairy's Song", the Mysterious Man's "Only A Matter of Time" and the show-stopping Broadway-style marionette musical "A Chorus Pine!".

Synopsis:

Paul Boyd's musical version of the world's oldest story, Little Red Riding Hood, was commissioned and originally produced by An Grianan Theatre in Co. Donegal. The show tells the story of a troupe of travelling gypsies who camp by the edge of a dark wood and gather to tell stories around a camp fire. The sound of wolves howling from deep within the forest leads the characters to tell the story of one of their ancestors - a mysterious girl who wore a red hood. Extensive research into fairytale history played an important part in the writing process of Red and the many versions of the Little Red Riding Hood story, with their various endings, are used to create an exciting and fun finale to the musical. The show is performed by a cast of five, has been staged in two professional productions since its creation in 2000 and the Red cast recording CD remains pbm's best-selling release. Most recently pbm toured Red as part of The Red Project, the company's renowned musical theatre training programme where students rehearse with a professional cast and crew before appearing on stage in public performances.
