Synopsis: | Karl, a 27 year old photographer gave his telephone number to Donovan at a club and now Donovan is coming round to see him. Karl has prepared a meal - but Donovan is not hungry - he has brought some beers. They go to bed - but do not hit it off. Donovan tells Karl that he is 17 but later admits he is 21. Donovan dresses and leaves. One month later. Karl has returned from Ghana where his family originated - Donovan's family were from the West Indies. Karl would like to return to Ghana as he is disillusioned with England. It is late at night - but Karl is sorting out his washing when Donovan turns up. He has been in a fight outside a public convenience and has had his hand slashed with a knife. Karl tends to the wound. Donovan asks to stay the night as he has fallen out with his girlfriend, Susan. He asks if his bloodstained clothes could be washed. Karl puts them in the washing machine and Donovan takes a shower. Donovan sleeps on the couch. Three months later. Karl and Donovan are now living together but things are fraught. Donovan brings Susan round for sex when Karl is out, he does not help around the flat and he still goes out with his mates - who do not know he is gay. They have a confrontation which leads to a fight which Karl wins - he forces Donovan to lick his shoes and when his friends ring the doorbell he makes him shout out that he is a battiboy. The friends go away. Donovan tells Karl that Susan is pregnant and he leaves. Later that night Karl is asleep in bed when Donovan crawls into it, crying. Susan is HIV and has had the baby aborted. Donovan has had safe sex with Karl but unprotected with Susan. He has had a blood sample taken by the doctor for testing. He is upset and confused. Karl comforts him and they spend the rest of the night making passionate love. Next morning they declare their love for each other but wonder what the consequences of their having unprotected sex will be. | |||||
