Synopsis: | the story of Peter, a young, earnest gardener with a desire to save the world, and Natalie, his odd, jaded sister, who tends to like things that hurt her. One of those things is Frank, an older guy with a rough edge and a shady job description. Peter's world is Natalie, so naturally he wants to save her, but he accidentally falls in love with a linguist named Lynn who tries to teach him that there's more to life than one's sister. This is a play about choices made in the face of unavoidable desire; it's about form and function, sweetness and danger, and passion and articulation.

Notes: | developed at the Ojai Playwrights' Conference, California in July 2009
| A precise and beautifully crafted play from the American playwright, author of Tape and associate writer of The Laramie Project, whose events are echoed in this play. Twenty-four years ago, the future was going to be different. Molly was going to be happy; older and smarter and married with kids. Ray was going to be a heart surgeon. When they meet again, by chance she divorced and childless; he a caretaker and gardener they discover that their lives are even further from that future than they could have imagined. Steeped in both regret and possibility, Dusk Rings A Bell is about the difficulty of taking responsibility for our choices, and how life will make them for us, if we're not careful. | |||||

Synopsis: | On November 6, 1998, gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard left the Fireside Bar with Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. The following day he was discovered on a prairie at the edge of town, tied to a fence, brutally beaten, and close to death. Six days later Matthew Shepard died at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado. On November 14th, 1998, ten members of Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming and conducted interviews with the people of the town. Over the next year, the company returned to Laramie six times and conducted over 200 interviews. These texts became the basis for the play The Laramie Project. Ten years later on September 12th, 2008, five members of Tectonic returned to Laramie to try to understand the long-term effect of the murder. They found a town wrestling with its legacy and its place in history. In addition to revisiting the folks whose words riveted us in the original play, this time around, the company also spoke with the two murderers, McKinney and Henderson, as well as Matthew's mother, Judy Shepard. THE LARAMIE PROJECT: TEN YEARS LATER is a bold new work, which asks the question, "How does society write its own history?"

Over the course of the evening, Vince finally gets Jon to admit that ten years ago he date-raped Amy Randall, a girl whom they both dated in high school-only then to reveal that he's taped their entire conversation. And not only that, he's invited Amy to have dinner with them that night. Beneath its sus-penseful, high-stakes surface, TAPE examines questions of motive, memory, truth and perception.

Synopsis: | We all have instinctive fears -- but what if a fear becomes inexplicable, illogical, and just plain weird? Then you're dealing with a phobia, one of those most extreme and fascinating of terrors. Actors Theatre of Louisville asked 16 frighteningly creative playwrights to find inspiration in real phobias, and the resulting collection of pieces might prove that not only is fear humankind's oldest emotion, but it's also one of our silliest, most serious, and stage-worthy.
