Synopsis: | based on the true life story of a U.S. Marine. It follows the story of New York City gang member Doug Hulbert who, in the 1960s, was given a choice between going to jail and going to the Marine Corps. He chooses the latter and his life changes forever. The play follows Doug and his fellow Marines from boot camp at Parris Island through their tour of duty in Vietnam. Through Doug's experiences, the audience is given a firsthand account of how the military prepares a young man mentally and physically to handle the brutalities of war and life's burdens. | |||||
