Synopsis: | When silent film director William Desmond Taylor is found murdered in his Hollywood bungalow in 1922, his secret lover George Hopkins hires a down-and-out detective, Sam, to investigate the case. In early Hollywood, where no one is what they appear, fact and fiction blend as Sam sorts through the cast of bizarre celebrity suspects, discovers the sordid secrets of Taylor's past, and gets swept into a steamy affair with George. Although the premise of the play and Sam the detective are fictional, Murder Uncensored incorporates all the real-life facts and primary suspects in the case, such as silent film stars Mabel Normand, and Mary Miles Minter, Minter's formidable stage mother, Charlotte Shelby, studio executive Charles Eyton, and Taylor's sociopathic houseboy, Edward Sands-and attempts to untangle all the various threads of people and lives woven around Taylor and his secrets. | |||||
