Points of Interest

Thus on 03 June 2003 www.doollee.com was launched with 3,093 playwrights and 8,146 plays. Since then I have been adding approx 41 plays and 12 playwrights per day.

About doollee.com

Doollee is an online database of playwrights and theatre plays. As an ongoing project we aim to list every play written or produced in English since 1956, the year John Osborne's seminal play Look Back in Anger was first performed at the Royal Court in London.

As a general rule of thumb, if you are a playwright who has had at least one play published or produced in English since 1956 then you are eligible for inclusion on the site. Doollee will then happily list the details of every other play you have written even if it is unpublished, unproduced, or was written before 1956. We add submitted information to the site daily and all contributions we receive help make this the most meaningful and definitive guide to modern playwrights in the world. Download a submission template from the right hand column, attach it to an email and send to email: Submission

In a response to numerous emails all asking "who are you?" and "why?" - I'm Julian Oddy and doollee.com is my spare time hobby (I work full time to keep the family in the style to which they would like to be accustomed). The site was started as an attempt to teach myself html coding, as you will see I've still got lots to learn, by putting my wife's collection of plays into a database. Things have grown like topsy ever since. I live in sunny Weymouth, a small seaside town on the South Coast of England; and that's about it.
